Retirement and Cash Flow Planning
Building the corpus is the first half. Drawing an income from it for thirty years without running out is the half most plans ignore.
Accumulation
We model the corpus your intended retirement lifestyle actually requires, in today's money and then inflated to your retirement date, and work back to the contribution needed from where you stand now.
Decumulation, the part usually missing
The harder question is the withdrawal phase: how much can be drawn each year, from which assets first, in what tax order, and how the portfolio should be positioned once contributions stop and withdrawals begin. Sequence of returns risk in the early retirement years can do more damage than a lower average return across the whole period, and it is planned for explicitly.
What gets built in
- Healthcare cost provision separate from lifestyle spending
- Longevity assumptions that do not quietly assume an early death
- A cash buffer so you never sell equity in a downturn to fund groceries
- Pension, EPF, NPS and annuity decisions set in the context of the whole plan
Early retirement
Retiring well before sixty changes the arithmetic substantially: a longer withdrawal period, no immediate pension access and a greater need for the portfolio to keep growing while being drawn on. It is achievable and it is modelled differently.
